San Joaquin County Continuing Education (SJ-CE) is committed to making its online training website accessible to the widest possible audience, including people with disabilities who use assistive technology.
Conformance target
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, and more usable for everyone.
What we have done
- Added page language, landmark regions, and a skip-to-content link across the site.
- Restored visible keyboard focus for links, buttons, form fields, and menus.
- Improved colour contrast on navigation, buttons, form controls, and helper text.
- Added proper labels to login, registration, and password-recovery forms.
- Gave icon-only links and buttons descriptive accessible names.
- Provided a lightweight accessibility helper (text size, high contrast, reading guide, reduced motion).
Known limitations
Remediation is ongoing. Some areas may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA, including:
- Course-taking screens (course player, slides, quizzes, exams) and interactive (H5P / Interactive Studio) content.
- Some imported course materials, downloadable PDFs, and generated certificates or receipts.
We are actively addressing these areas. This statement is not a claim of full ADA certification.
